I had the honor of photographing the band Knife Emoji during their album shoot at the legendary Pachyderm Recording Studio in Cannon Falls, Minnesota. This iconic studio is best known as the place where Nirvana recorded their groundbreaking album In Utero, making it a dream location for any music lover and photographer.
The day was filled with creativity, great music, and a little bit of nostalgia. My husband joined me behind the scenes and helped make the shoot possible, so you'll also find a few portraits of him throughout this collection. One of the highlights of the day was recreating the famous Nirvana fireplace photo—with the band's dogs taking center stage in front of the fireplace. Getting them all posed just right was an adventure of its own, but the results were worth it! My dog, Nally, also made a surprise appearance and somehow ended up participating in a few "cult photos" with the band. As you can imagine, she took her role very seriously and fit right in with the creative chaos. Here are a few behind-the-scenes moments, portraits, and memories from an unforgettable day at one of Minnesota's most historic recording studios.
